“It is very fascinating how ASE understands and applies the science of optics in detail in order to make ideas a reality”.
I am Assma Habboubi, graduate in Optics and Optometry. I am finishing my master’s degree in Photonics at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), as my areas of interest focus on Biophotonics, optical design and optogenetics.
I am developing my thesis “Investigation of the effects of tolerances on optical system performance – a comparison of simulation and built systems (simulation and analysis focus)” which aims to analyse the critical drivers of optical performance in the tolerance analysis of custom optical systems, investigating the correlation between tolerance simulations, lens assembly accuracy and the optical quality of the resulting system, since to ensure that an optical system meets the performance requirements, a tolerance analysis must be performed and tolerances specified for any parameter of a system that may vary to some extent with respect to the theoretical design.
Why did you choose ASE Optics Europe for your internship?
I chose to do my master thesis with ASE Optics Europe because I was interested in learning about optical design from optical enginering experts who solve problems by designing and building devices that make light do something useful. I think that is very fascinating.
What was your role in ASE Optics Europe?
My role in ASE Optics is to analyze the critical drivers of optical performance of custom optical systems made by ASE.
How would you define your experience at ASE Optics Europe?
My experience at ASE Optics Europe is amazing. I have learned so much by seeing the process of designing and building an optical system from beginning to end. It is very fascinating how ASE understands and applies the science of optics in detail in order to make ideas a reality.
