Seminar at The Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO)

On Wednesday 17th May we were at the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO), where Thomas Siegel, R&D director at ASE Optics, presented the seminar: “Beyond the lens: optical design and engineering for costum, fully integrated, optical systems development and manufacturing”.

Thomas presented ASE’s capabilities in design, development and integration of custom optical systems, which are provided to different companies and research institutes, to help them in the development of their products and projects.

PhD and Researchers from ICFO shared their thoughts and experiences, to identify opportunities to collaborate for the development of new R&D projects.

In addition, we finalized one of the phases of the current project with the ICFO-Medical Optics group (ICFO-MEDOPT): we delivered the first system of a series of 36 spectral filtering units for their Tinybrain project.

What is our scope of work at TINYBRAINS project?

ASE Optics designed and assembled an optical assembly that allows spectral filtering of light to improve the signal-to-noise ratio of the measurement.

For the delivery of the first system, we went specially to ICFO, to perform the measurement tests.
